Songs and Scriptures for 07-25-10Songs:Love lifted me (508) Scriptures:1 John 1:9 Bruce Hempel - Your life being given to the LordIsaiah 5:1-7 (parable: your life is like a vineyard) God wants you to bear good fruit. You are His vineyard. Why did Israel bear bad fruit? What gets in the way of bearing good fruit?
When you live for yourself it is producing wild grapes. Living for God produces good grapes. Jesus also tells this parable in the gospels. Why didn't the Pharisees accept Jesus? Because they viewed the vineyard as their own -- for their own enjoyment. Same for us, if we view our life as for our own enjoyment we will bear sour fruit. How Pharisees view people: How Jesus views people: John 10:1-17 I encourage you to say: "Lord I am your vineyard, you can prune me as you want." Other contrasts of how to live: Good Prophets vs bad prophets and good priests vs bad priests. God wants us to be priests, so we should live holy lives. We should have a fear of God and be ready to give an account of our actions. My life is a stewardship for which I will give an account Acts 27:21-25 God wants us to have a heart of prayer for those along with us. Also note how Paul speaks of his relationship to God: "God whose I am and whom I serve" We are to be bond servants -- to be with Him and serve Him forever. Song: When it's all been said and done |
